Sega has announced that the next instalment in the Total War strategy series, Total War: Three Kingdoms will be released later this year.

Fans have been waiting for news of next Total War title for quite some time and the announcement trailer gives a glimpse at the first game in the series to be set in ancient China.

The year is 190CE and a dynasty crumbles as a brutal and oppressive regime’s power grows and the empire slips further into anarchy. Three heroes give hope, sworn to brotherhood in the face of calamity while great families follow suit, forming a shaky alliance in a bid to challenge the remorseless rule.

Inspired by the beauty and artistic style of the age, Total War: Three Kingdoms breathes life into the heroes of this fascinating period as they struggle to unite China under a single banner.

Total War: Three Kingdoms is expected to launch on PC in Q3 2018.
