Welcome to this week’s One Hour Tour! After patiently waiting for Capcom to provide a more complete experience, I finally give Street Fighter V a spin. Keep in mind I purchased Street Fighter V on Day one two years ago for that sweet Ryu statue that came with the limited edition. After rumblings of the game being a glorified demo, I refused to play it. And I’m a long time Street Fighter fan dating back to the Super NES era.
Although Capcom said they’d never release another edition of SFV, they clearly went back on their word. And well I’m using that term complete “loosely” as the Arcade Edition disc basically fetches the individual content parts online and downloads it; which basically means the disc is useless. And yes, seeing as it’s Capcom, the Season 1 and 2 characters aren’t on disc either as there’s a code inside the box to download the characters.
Never the less, while waiting two year to finally play it, I can safely say that it feels underwhelming. Considering we’ve seen Injustice 2, King of Fighters XIV, Mortal Kombat XL, Tekken 7; among other fighters since 2016, SFV feels bland and boring. The Arcade mode content is pretty bare bone and boring. Hell I’ve had more fun with Ultra Street Fighter 2 on Switch.
So enjoy my thoughts as I dive into Street Fighter V for the first time.
