Here comes the news train, choo choo!

If you missed the gaming stories this week then don’t fret, we’ve gathered what we think are the must-read stories of the week, all in one easy-breezy article. So go on, start your weekend off the right way.

PlayStation and Xbox April Games Announced

Both Sony and Microsoft lifted the lid on the lineup of free games coming for April. And whilst the line up might not hit the same heights for PlayStation as it did for March, there’s still some goodies worth picking up.

Mad Max, the action CaRPG (car RPG, get it?) is the standout title for the PlayStation line up for next month, with Trackmania Turbo coming along for the ride on PS4.

PS3 players will be getting We Brawl in Space and Toy Home – games that we haven’t played so don’t ask us too many questions. And, if you’re looking for something to enjoy on all your PlayStation devices because… you can, then you’ll be happy to know that Q*Bert Rebooted is your cross platform title.

The Games with Gold line up does certainly look a lot stronger this month, maybe in reaction to the PS Plus March line up. Xbox players can get their hands on the brain melting puzzler The Witness from April 1 to April 3, well worth it if you either want to test your mental faculties or if you’re a big fan of lines.

Along with The Witness is the chance to pick up Dead Space 2 between April 16-30, whilst you’ll also be able to snap up Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for free between April 16 – May 15.

Smooth Sailing for Sea of Thieves Sales

Microsoft announced that, after being released just over a week, Rare’s grog-drinking simulator Sea of Thieves has become the fastest selling IP for the Xbox One.

Having reeled in a million players in its first 24 hours on sale, Sea of Thieves has also notched up 18 million views of the game being streamed.

A lot has been made of whether trawling the high seas for skeletons, treasure, and pigs, offers enough variety for players to stick around, and it’ll be interesting to see how many players picked up the game using the two-week free trial for the Xbox Game Pass. It seems that only time will tell on that note – but the early signs for the game will come as welcome news for both Microsoft and Rare.

Far Cry 3 Returns in May

Included as part of the Far Cry 5 season pass, the remastered version of Far Cry 3 will arrive on PS4 and Xbox One on May 29 for players who picked up the Far Cry 5 season pass. If you’re not bothered about getting the game a bit earlier, or the surrounding DLC for Far Cry 5, which includes Dead Living Zombies, Hour of Darkness, and Lost on Mars, you’ll be glad to know that Far Cry 3 will arrive for everyone else on June 26 – just enough time to rinse every little bit of goodness from Far Cry 5.
