To celebrate the launch of The Messenger, Quebec-based developer Sabotage and quirky publisher Devolver Digital have released a cheesy, 80s inspired short film titled Shinobi No Kikan which you can enjoy below. The movie mixes live action, animated sprites, and gameplay footage; the type of unique and humorous content that’d be coming from the minds of the guys and gals at Devolver Digital.
Although the game has been out for only a few days, The Messenger as been quoted as ‘the best retro tribute since Shovel Knight’ and is noted as one of the best games of the year for the Nintendo Switch.
The Messenger features a nameless ninja warrior on a quest to deliver a scroll to ensure his clan’s survival as a demon army launches a massive attack on his village.
