And more games might follow.
If you were planning on paying out for the Switch Online subscription when it arrives in the US on September 18 and the UK on September 19, you might want to think again – well, if you only play Fortnite that is.
Because it seems that players won’t have to have an online membership to keep playing the ever-so-popular battle royale extravaganza. An FAQ answer on the Nintendo website stated that “[s]ome games, such as Fortnite, can be played online without a Nintendo Switch membership.”
Whether or not other games will follow suit isn’t yet known, but Nintendo has clarified that the majority of first and third-party title will need the membership to play online. And if you liked the look of the NES collection included with Switch Online, it could be worth the £20 a year.
Switch Online comes into effect on September 18 in the US and September 19 in the UK, offering a cloud save system, exclusive discounts, online play (obviously), and a collection of NES games.
