Just in time for the spooky season.
Space is about to get a bit spookier it seems, after No Man’s Sky teased its next free update for the game, The Abyss, which arrives next week.
In a blog post, Sean Murray said that “Whilst most of the team have been busy on weekly updates, a handful have been working on something else, our first titled update since NEXT.†With that imminent update being The Abyss, a new adventure that Murray said: “focuses on some of the eerier elements of No Man’s Sky, in keeping with the theme of this season.â€
A new free update is releasing next week for all No Man’s Sky players

There’s not much else to go on from the post, but the No Man’s Sky Reddit thread gave way to some possible hints through a recent datamine; suggesting that “lava rocks†and an entity that keeps asking you to kill things – awesome. Of course, the contents of the datamine might not point to any immediate upcoming content for the game – or might not even materialise at all.

The Abyss is the latest update for the game, coming after the colossal NEXT update which introduced a huge collection of features for the game. The Abyss will drop at some point next week for all platforms, so be sure to give it a look if you wanna get spooked up in space.
