Just ’cause they can.
Just Cause 4 may not be out until December 4 but that seems to be a trifling detail for Square Enix, who is already pushing the game’s Expansion Pass with a new trailer that teases three DLC packs, due out next year.
The Expansion Pass comes as part of the Just Cause 4: Gold Edition, with the added perk of getting access to the DLC packs seven days ahead of everyone else. While there are no details on a standalone Expansion Pass, it seems certain that this will be made available at launch.
You can check out further details on each DLC pack, below.
Fans of the Just Cause series have already been given a good idea of what to expect from the new game. We’ve been treated to 20 minutes of Just Cause 4’s gameplay which shows the sheer scale of the world that the game takes place in. We’ve also been introduced to Extreme Weather Events – and watched the terrifying destruction of a tornado, as it tears across the landscape.
So while it may seem a little premature to be thinking about DLC before the game has even launched, there’s nothing new about the practice. Battlefield 1, The Division, and even Zelda: Breath of the Wild have all done it (to name just a few) and, if anything, goes to show the confidence of the publishers in the quality of the game.
Still, there’s something that still feels a little presumptuous about it all. But maybe that’s just me?
Just Cause 4 is set for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on December 4.
