Slay demons anywhere.

Keeping us hanging until the very end of BlizzCon 2018’s Opening Ceremony, Blizzard announced a new Diablo game, Diablo Immortal, which will be heading to mobile devices.

The new title, which sees a collaboration between Blizzard and NetEase Games, will explore the events that follow on from the end of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction and before the timeline of Diablo 3.

Diablo Immortal will be a fully fledged massively multiplayer online action–role-playing game (try saying that fast) for mobile, and will launch with six familiar classes; Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, and Wizard, with more to follow in future updates, as well as new storylines, new challenges, and new loot.

You’ll be able to explore the world of Sanctuary alone, or with friends, tackling “dynamic events across unique public zones,” or battle through instanced dungeons. Westmarch will serve as the game’s central hub where you can meet other players, upgrade your gear, craft items, or form groups. You can check out the gameplay trailer, below.

‘Diablo Immortal takes the series’ dark, gothic fantasy world of Sanctuary and inimitable Diablo gameplay, and puts it in your pocket,’ said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. ‘With their incredible passion for Diablo and proven mobile expertise, the development team has spawned an ultra-responsive and breathtakingly beautiful mobile game, and we can’t wait for players to get their hands on it.’

In the months leading up to BizzCon 2018, fans have been trying to guess what’s in store for Diablo. Blizzard confirmed that “multiple teams working on different Diablo projects,” and many fans hoped for the announcement of Diablo 4 or a remaster of Diablo 2. While both of these seemed unlikely – Blizzard made some attempt to lower expectations – many thought it may be all part of the plan to throw fans off the scent. Sadly, that wasn’t the case.

Still, at least we have a new Diablo game, and you can head over to the official site to pre-register, making you eligible to participate in beta tests and earn in-game rewards, as well as keep updated with news.

No release window has been announced but we can tell you that Diablo Immortal will be arriving on both iOS and Android.
