All the news, all in one place.
As the week comes to a close, I’m back with the latest round up of the gaming news in the world this week. Among other things, we’ve got Geralt of Rivia punching monsters in another realm, the launch trailer for Anthem, and the announcement of a sequel to the beloved Hollow Knight. So sit back and kick your weekend off the right way!
Geralt is coming to Monster Hunter World

There’s going to be a special Monster Hunter World and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt crossover event, where you’ll get a new quest if you’re up to Hunter Rank 16 or above – Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest. Geralt will be hunting a creature known as the Leshen. If you finish it, you’ll get Witcher-themed items, resources to craft his weapon and armor set, new gestures, titles, pose, and guild card background. Plus, you can interact with other Monster Hunter World characters, and potentially have choices you make in conversation have impact on the story later on down the line.
Along with that, starting February 15, 1:00 AM CET, if you’re level 50 or above, there’s a much more challenging multiplayer event where you can fight a stronger version of the Leshen, in the Dubbed Contract: Woodland Spirit quest, which is only available until March 1, 00:59 AM CET. Complete this, and you get the resources to craft Ciri’s weapon and armor set.
Anthem gets a launch trailer
Not too much to say here – EA have dropped the launch trailer for Anthem, which is due to release PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 22, 2019.
Assassin’s Creed 3, now in 4K

Ubisoft is remastering Assassin’s Creed III for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, releasing on March 29, 2019. You’ll be able to get it as a stand alone game, but it’s also part of Assassin Creed Odyssey’s season pass. They’ve also released a comparison trailer, which shows off the upgraded graphics and lighting engine. It also comes with the solo content DLC, along with all the single player missions – Benedict Arnold, Hidden Secrets, The Tyranny of King Washington, and Assassin’s Creed III Liberation Remastered. Finally, it’s got 4K and HDR support for the PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC, higher resolution textures, a new graphics engine, a few other graphical upgrades, as well as improved gameplay mechanics and ergonomics.
Hollow Knight is now getting a sequel

Team Cherry have announced Silksong, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight, expanding on what was originally planned as a DLC. A standalone sequel, starring Hornet as the main character, the princess and protector of Hallownest. It’ll be available on PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch, but unfortunately there’s no release date as of yet. Plus, to say thank you to all those who originally backed Hollow Knight on Kickstarter, Silksong will be totally free for them.
