Scale(in)bound.

Reports from NintendoInsider have sparked rumours that the once-cancelled Action-RPG, Scalebound, could be revived and brought back as an exclusive for the Switch.

The report comes from Alex Seedhouse, who said that “it is my understanding that Scalebound has been resurrected as a project to be released as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.” The report goes on to suggest that development for Scalebound may well have been rebooted though nothing is certain in that regard.

It’s a story that feeds into comments made by Game Informer during a recent episode of Kind of Funny Games, where a “game that’s thought to be dead that Nintendo’s reviving,” was mentioned, a title that could very well be Scalebound.

Developed by Platinum Games, Scalebound originally had quite a few players excited at the prospect of a wholly original IP being developed as an Xbox exclusive. Though after it was cancelled in early 2017, The game had you playing as Drew, who was accompanied by a fire-breathing dragon that you could command. Along with the promise of four-player co-op, Scalebound also had a nifty feature where Drew would pop-in some headphones and add a bit of bass to your boss fights.

It remains to be seen whether Scalebound will be revived but the rumour is certainly worth keeping an eye on. I kind of wish I didn’t get rid of my Switch now.
