Nintendo released a brand new update for Super Mario Maker 2 which adds a multiplayer component to the game so players can play versus multiplayer with people on their Nintendo Switch friends list.

The update lets you hop online (Nintendo Switch Online membership required) in Multiplayer Versus or Multiplayer Co-op and play with friends, in addition to the previously available option to play with randomly selected players.

While playing with friends, you will also be able to select the difficulty in Course World and choose which courses to play from your list of locally saved courses in Coursebot.

Along with multiplayer, this update brings a list of Official Makers in the Leaderboards section where players will find new courses made of Official Makers along with others created for collaborations or special events.

Players can now use both touch-screen and button controls when creating courses in Handheld mode, among other upgrades to improve the Super Mario Maker 2 experience.
