ININ Games will be releasing Digital Illusions’ run & gun title Ultracore to Nintendo Switch and PS4 on June 23rd via the eShop and Playstation Store respectively. The game will be priced £17.99 / €19.99 / $22.99 USD. The game will also be available for PS Vita, although no release date was mentioned.

Ultracore is a run and gun platformer akin to the Contra series where your goal is to go from point A to B and gunning down everything in your path. The game will feature 5 large stages with various weapons to collect.

Thanks to the help provided by Strictly Limited Games, Ultracore has been restored and completed after its development was put on hold due to an upcoming evolution of video game consoles way back in 1994.

In collaboration with experts of the genre and (former) members of DICE, the game was brought back to life with improved, optimized, full of run & gun action.

Players will also be able to switch between the game’s original soundtrack and a brand new one which features 20 full-length synthwave and electronic tracks from Scandroid, Waveshaper, Mega Drive, Fury Weekend, 3Force, Isidor, Fixions; just to name a few.

Here’s what Fredrik Liljegren, one of the 4 founders of DICE (Digital Illusions), had to say:

“I know the care, love, sweat and hard work that went into creating Hardcore in the first place by all involved parties. Thus, I think it is fantastic that this product finally gets to see the light of day and for people to be able to play it.”
