If some of you weren’t able to catch last week’s Nintendo Direct presentation, we at GGS are here to help! I’m compiled everything you need to know in one helpful post:
New Challenger Approaching – Cloud Strife for Super Smash Bros!
The legendary hero from Final Fantasy VII will be playable in the upcoming Super Smash Bros Brawl for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. If you haven’t seen his début trailer yet, watch it below:
As well as that, there will be a special broadcast, the last one for SSBB, and it will be released in December 2015.
Animal Crossing Amiibos
Resetti, Blathers, Celeste and Kicks will be joining the ranks in early 2016, so keep your eyes peeled!
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in HD
Originally for Wii and Gamecube all the way back in 2006, Twilight Princess is going to be remade with upgraded visuals. The game will be out March 4, 2016, in a bundle with a new amiibo, modelled after Wolf Link and Midna, along with an OST. The game will also be compatible with five other Legend of Zelda amiibo from the SSB Collection, though no word as of yet which ones those are.
The Legend of Zelda for Wii U
Though this title doesn’t even have a name yet, it’ll be the next entry in the series, right in time for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. Certain data from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD on the Wolf Link amiibo will be carried over to the new game. While we wait for that, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks have been released on the Wii U Virtual Console. Until November 19, anyone who buys one of these titles for £8.99/ € 9,99 will get 50% off the other title if bought on the same Wii U, so grab it while you can!
Pokkén Tournament
The Pokémon Company and BANDAI Namco Entertainment have collaborated to bring us Pokkén Tournament: a new Pokémon fighter game which lets you pit your favourite pocket monsters against each other in an arena. Anyone who buys a first run edition of the game at retail will obtain a limited edition Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card that will immediately unlock the character to the game when you tap it on the GamePad. This title will launch in spring 2016.
Star Fox Zero
A new start for the Star Fox franchise, this title has a unique control scheme that uses the TV screen and the GamePad, and lets pilots fly multiple vehicles through the deepest reaches of space with Fox and his classic crew. This game is exclusively for the Wii U, and will launch in April 2016.
Splatoon Software Update
As of November 13, a free software update has been added to Splatoon, adding over forty pieces of new gear (including more winter items) and a new stage, the Museum d’Alfonsino, which went live on November 14. There will be more stages added in future updates throughout January.
New Web Portal for Super Mario Maker
In December, a new web portal will be added to Super Mario Maker, which you can access any time and anywhere. This’ll have a more detailed search function to find and filter levels or add them to your “Play Later,” list.
Xenoblade Chronicles X Launching December 4
This title is a Wii U exclusive, and you can view some fantastic scenes from Planet Mira in the stream linked above.
FAST Racing Neo
The fast paced racer that can support up to four people on multiplayer (eight online!), is being developed by Shin’en Multimedia, and will be exclusively in the Wii U eShop to download come December.
Typoman
Typoman has a cool feature that lets you use the GamePad in an interesting, unique way, letting you explore the hazardous environments, survive vicious enemies, whilst examining the power of words. It’ll be an eShop exclusive again, on the Wii U on November 19.
For the 3DS:
The original Pokémon trilogy, now on 3DS:
The original trio, Red/Blue/Yellow, are coming to 3DS on February 27 next year, the same day they released in Japan, way back in 1996. Presumably another eShop exclusive, you can trade Pokémon using the wireless communication system.
Hyrule Warriors: Legends – Linkle coming soon!
Hyrule Warriors: Legends gives players the full Hyrule Warriors game on 3DS, but with even more stuff this time around. Tetra, Toon Link and The King of Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker join Skull Kid from Majora’s Mask on the battlefield. Plus, new character Linkle, a girl who wields two crossbows, is now playable. You can control multiple players on the battlefield, switching them out in any strategy you wish whenever you like.
Hyrule Warriors launches as part of a limited edition bundle with a compass watch on March 25.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros.
Mario and Luigi meets Paper Mario – when you use compatible amiibos, players can create a corresponding character card ingame, which will have powerful effects during battle. The game launches December 4.
Fire Emblem Fates
By purchasing either Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest or Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright at retail when they launch next year or on the eShop, you’ll embark on a unique quest with differing experiences and story. However, once you’ve bought one of them, the second will be available to download ingame for a reduced price. There’s also a third downloadable version, Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation, which will reveal even more story secrets. There will, luckily, be a special edition that includes an artbook and all three of the games bundled together.
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes – Free DLC!
Free DLC is coming on December 3 for Tri Force Heroes, adding Linebeck’s Uniform and Fierce Deity Mail outfits to the mix. They each have their own abilities, and the new Den of Trials has more than thirty stages to overcome. The upcoming patch also makes it easier to get Friendly Tokens, as you’ll be able to purchase them from the Street Merchant once you’ve lifted the princess’ curse. Two adjustments to the online mode have also been made; by answering a question before matchmaking, you’ll be matched with players who gave similar answers, and players who leave a game in progress via the Pause Menu can now be added to the blacklist.
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
Players can become one of twenty Pokémon in this turn based, action packed title, which launches next year on February 19. With ever changing dungeons, you can encounter every known Pokémon from the games. That’s a massive seven hundred and twenty Pokémon. Talk about value for money…
Nintendo Badge Arcade
You may have seen my article on this from a few days ago; a free to download game on the eShop that lets you play on badge catcher machines. You can earn badges from popular games, and use them to customise your 3Ds’ Home Screen. You can buy plays with eShop funds, or have up to five free plays per day – if you’re lucky, you can win more free goes!
Dragon Quest Coming to 3DS
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, two classic handheld JRPGS, are both being remastered, and will hit your 3DS screens in 2016.
Pokémon Picross
Picross meets Pokémon in this cute new entry to both franchises, and the free to start game will be available on the eShop in early December.
Bravely Second: End Layer
The sequel to the hit game from Square Enix, Bravely Default, will be getting a fantastic deluxe collector’s edition before its release in Q1 next year: fans can get their hands on an OST, Agnés mini figurine, and a 250 page deluxe art book, though please note that said figurine is not an amiibo.
Final Fantasy Explorers
This cute new  action RPG marks the first Final Fantasy title of its kind on the 3DS, and it looks like a fun one. Up to four players can play together via local or online multiplayer, each in different combat roles, but there are more than twenty jobs in the game itself, each with its own unique abilities. This game, too, will get a collector’s edition, with an art book, 20 track CD sampler, a 3DS case, and a specific quest that will unlock previous Final Fantasy weapons. Also, all the DLC previously released in Japan will be included when in launches on January 29.
Mega Man Legacy Collection
Another classic from the NES days, the Mega Man Legacy Collection will launch as an eShop exclusive on February 23, and is a faithful reproduction of the original six games, Mega Man 1 through 6, plus new ways to play, with Challenge Mode’s remix stages, and Museum Mode showing off original production artwork.
SteamWorld Heist
For a limited time, players who download the side scrolling, turn based, strategy shooter from the eShop upon its launch in December will get an exclusive 3DS Home Menu Screen.
